AT THE RIVERFORGE TABLE
Free poker practice against AI
Play a hand, learn the betting, and try again. Riverforge gives you a free browser poker game with AI opponents, a guided first hand, and a river you help create.
Solo play needs no account or app download. Open Riverforge on your phone, tablet, or computer and choose a guided hand or free practice. Games use virtual chips with no cash value. The current beta is a poker variant: each player starts with three private cards and later contributes one to the river pool.
Three ways to begin
- Guided first hand: follow the game’s introduction to betting rounds and the contribution decision. This is a good place to start if the river pool is new to you.
- Free chips & practice: use a practice table to experiment without spending the virtual chips in your career wallet. Practice does not earn career XP.
- Career Ring tables: when you are ready, buy into a table using your virtual wallet. Completed career hands earn XP and work toward cosmetic unlocks. Blinds remain fixed for that Ring table.
What to practice at the table
Reading the board: after each community card, identify the best hand you hold and which next cards could improve it. Notice when the board makes a possible straight or flush for other players.
Betting decisions: learn when checking is available, what a call costs, and how raising changes the chips you risk. A bet is a decision about both your hand and the price you offer other players.
The contribution: compare the two cards you keep with the card you place in the pool. Your discarded private card may return as a community river. That extra choice makes Riverforge different from standard Hold’em.
Position and stack size: watch the dealer button move. Acting later gives you more public action to consider. Keep track of your stack in big blinds rather than judging a bet by its chip number alone.
Choose AI opponents that fit your session
Table options include Easy, Standard, Hard, and Mixed difficulty. Opponent personalities change how the bots approach the game. Adaptive opponents use public betting habits at the table; their memory resets when you start a new table. These are experimental game opponents, not a measure of your ability against real players.
Living Table adds changing fictional AI regulars, open seats, departures, and arrivals between hands. Fixed lineups let you keep a more familiar group of opponents. Tournament mode gives you rising blinds and elimination play with virtual prizes.
Keep your progress safe
Solo career progress saves in the browser you use. Clearing site data or switching browsers can separate you from that local save. Download a full private backup from Career & saves, or sign in and use the account-save options to protect or move your career. Signing in is optional for solo practice.
Practice poker without real-money stakes
Riverforge is built around play chips, learning the variant, and cosmetic progression. There are no cash winnings or cash-out value. Practicing here can help you understand this game’s decisions, but it does not promise success in any other poker game.
Read the Riverforge rules for the complete hand sequence, or keep the poker hand rankings nearby while you learn.
